BSG mod ver.12.8.9

Here is the most current version of the BSG mod for Artemis, 1st I would like to give special thanks and credit to Brian Stamper for writing the installer code used for the mod installer. With this version it is no longer necessary for the batch run program or file. This is a self-installing program. It also comes with an uninstaller that will return Artemis to its original state.

Installation steps:

1. If you already have the mod downloaded and have new missions built for the mod you will have to move them to another folder outside of Artemis you can always place your missions back into the mission folder after you install this version.

2. Make sure Artemis is restored to its original state.

3. Download this version and follow the instruction on the installer.

I am hoping this version will make it easier for all of you to download and play this mode. So you can have more time to play the game instead of trying to figure out how to get everything working.

A Little about the Mod there are 8 races and 65 vessels on the vesseldata.xml. This will allow for some interesting scripting. All races that are already in the Artemis world are on here too. I add the colonial and cylon race the colonial race being the player race in this module. The player vessels are the Battlestar Galactica Class, Battlestar Mercury Class, Battlestar Valkyrie Class, Gunstar Berzerk Class, Gunstar Cygnus Class and The Heavy Cruiser Defender Class.

Missions: Venegence : A training mission. Aios: Protect our mines. Prolmar: System Patrol
Attract mode: Made by Mike but edited for this module. Trails of Deneb 01, 02 and 03 A Thom original

I'd like to put in my two cents regarding fighters. If you're not using an engine that allows three-dimensional flight (which Artemis still doesn't, right?), actually flying a Viper is just going to feel lame. Having them to command is awesome, but I think actually flying one would get old fast. Just like it did in the Battlestar Galactica game that was out a few years ago. You'd do it for ten minutes just so you can say you've flown a Viper, then you'd never do it again.

If you want to mod a game for Vipers (or if you just want a great spaceflight sim), check out Babylon 5: I've Found Her. Great flight model, but probably not as easily-moddable as Artemis.

Hi Dwayne Shaffer.

I have only recently discovered Artemis and its like a mini prayer was answered. It got better when I discovered your BSG mod.

Currently I am having difficulty running the game as I encounter multiple errors and crashes.

I followed the instructions from page 3, or so I though, but still I encounter errors which I have posted below in the images.

So far as it stands I can run the game but can only choose the Miss Vengeance mission. Once in the mission there are no enemies and I'm unable to much else (Not even launch vipers, though I don't know how to do that any way other then its something to do with the comms console). Any other mode just crashes the game to desktop.

Is it possible you can help me with the errors or provide full installation instructions so a total noob like me can understand. If I can get this up and running I think you may help me be the happiest BSG fan around.

I look forward to your response :)

Chris I normally do not play the BSG mod in the stock game just the mission mod I will have to investigate this problem a little more. I will be putting out an updated ver. this week. With a little more instructions on what is going on and how to use it. Also players only have an option for fighters in the mission mod due to fighters have to be scripted into the missions as of right now. My Mod team=(me, myself and I)lol, Has been working on the mod every spare moment that I have. I now have all the ships added to the vesseldata.xml to include a cylon tanker, old basestar, cylon mining station and outpost. I am on vacation right now from work so I will be spending more time on completing this mod. I have update vengeance, and made two more mission to go along with the mod.

Enemy Ships:
will jump in when you trigger an event. If you follow your comms orders. instruction from fleet HQ this will lead you to a fight. vengeance is a basic mission to get you started it is based off Thom's End of Peace.

Starting the game:

1. start your server.
2. connect to server via client.
3. select CIC position and ready to play
4. go back to the server and click on start game.

this gives time for the client to load everything like the comms orders at the beginning of the game.



vipers basic

1st I scripted into the mission and early warning (multiple daris contacts) will pop up on the weapon console. it detects enemy ships that are with in 10000k this lets you know that the viper are getting ready to scramble. The vipers will scramble at 5000k.

BSG Fan:
As you I love BSG I watched it on the big screen when it first came out as the Movie then as a series all the way into the 80's seen all of the RDM mini series.

Just Starting Out:
This is my first mod that I have ever been involved in and had to learn every thing from 3d modeling to XML coding,

So please be patient will me. I think you will really loves this when it is done. And if you have a crew together they will too.

Thanks for the update. You sir are a legend for this mod.

I informed my "crew" of this mod last night in the pub and one of them had to be carried out after having a nerdgasam.

I will happily be patient and I look forward to your future work on this mod.

Chris here is some insight to what my "plan" is for the the mod. I have started a web site for the mod it has the back story for the mod every thing there is still a W.I.P. but this is on a back burner, the mod itself is the 1st priority. http://bsg-mod-artemis.webs.com/

Missions:
I will be working a series of missions. Each mission will represent a star system located on the map attached, source was Battlestar Forums. Mission will be on going. The mission will end 1 of 2 ways you approach a colonial nav comm system. When you are with in 500 k of it it will simulate uploading FLT jump Coordinates ending that mission so that you can choose another System (mission). 2 if your ship is destroyed game will end. the only exception will be vengeance it is a training mission so the crew can get familiar with the ship systems.

Crew Positions (CIC)

Captian = Commanding Officer / Executive Officer
Helm = Helm
Weapon= Weapons Officer
Science= Tactical Officer
Comms= Communication / CAG
Engineering= Engineering Officer

I will also be updating one of my Raid Call groups so that we can have wirerless comms with other Artemis Fan of the BSG mod

Chris I got a challenge for you. If you and your crew would like, put together a role playing script with audio clips (does not matter what format I can convert them) that you would like in the game and I will make a mission for it. I'll throw in some twists and turns so everything will not be so predictable.

I have completed Aios Mission and have re scripted Vengeance for the new version of the game. And have started 2 more. I ran Aios mission last night and it took around 120 minutes to play and I know where everything is (lol). It has a lot of combat a recuse and some rewards if you know were to look. Just doing some last Minute tweaks before putting out the updated mod.

On the other hand I can not find out why the built in missions will not run. As for the Missions that come with the game like The end of peace it is due to the fact that I had to create a whole new vesseldata.xml just for the mod which means that a lot of the ship that are in those mission are not on the XML or have be given different Unique ID numbers.

If you and your crew accept my challenge I will give you my email address so that you can send me the script.

Hi Dwayne.

I love the idea of the progressive system (mission) jumping. A training mission will defiantly be needed. Myself and my crew are all nuggets, but were itching to arrange a date to set up and play. Hopefully by then I will have got the mod working.

I managed to get the stock missions to work, but still no joy with vengeance.

As for the challenge, I am happy to accept. I put some creative minds together and see if we can amalgamate some ideas into a mission inspired by the series both old and re-imagined. It will have to be a script that we chip away at over a period of time though, as my job is quite time consuming and doesn't work with sociable hours so I wont be able to produce anything to quickly, but I will do my best to get it storyboarded and get my friends to have input.

Consider the challenge accepted.

Vessel data XML update

I found some discrepancies in the vessel data XML that I corrected. Also add a more detailed description of player vessel and a generic race that can be used as a terrorist group or a separatist faction depending on what you want to do with them. This should not effect any of the mission that are already out.

after downloading the file extract it to the bsg_mod/dat folder.
