Artemis Engineering Preset Manager (ver. 12.11.10.1)

posted May 10, 2012 13:33:55 by Hissatsu
Greetings!

This is an engineering preset manager for Artemis 1.66

With it, you can store multiple engineering presets, edit them and apply them quickly. You can use this program to keep multiple presets and swap them quickly when different players use the same computer, or you can use this program to quickly swap to a higher-coolant preset when you got extra coolant during a mission, etc.

This program will allow you to:

- Store multiple engineering presets
- Edit presets with some advanced features, such as:
- Input energy and coolant values with mouse or keyboard
- Hints about how many coolant is required for a system
- Automatic coolant distribution
- Quickly apply selected preset and (optionally) run Artemis

This program will help you in the following scenarios:

- You want to quickly make a template without fighting the sliders for that exact percentage you want, etc
- You want to store more than one preset, for example, different presets for Warp and Jump drive modes
- You have multiple people playing on the same computer as engineer
- You are playing on a new computer as an engineer
- You have received a coolant upgrade in an Invasion mode and want to use it without much hassle

You can find instructions and latest version download links on the artemis wiki:

Great idea, Hissatsu. Thanks!
"Damn the torpedoes! Four bells, Captain Drayton!"

(Likely actual words of Admiral David Farragut, USN, at the battle of Mobile Bay. Four bells was the signal for the engine room to make full steam ahead).

After getting .NET 4.0 installed (which requires the winetricks work around, for people who want to do it themselves) i can confirm that the program runs adequately under linux. The only issue is one of display, I think. The text for each system is shifted down so the first couple of characters get hidden, but thats alright.

I like how it tells you when you haven't got enough coolant to prevent the system overheating.

This label is output by custom code (because .Net has no stock vertical label)... But its very simple..... Can you send me a screenshot so i could figure out what can be done?

Here is what I see when I run it on linux under wine.

Ah, i see, it has to emulate the controls using its own methods... I'll see if this is fixable.

masonnuss, have you got the lastest version (12.05.11.1)?
Could you tell me the full path where your Artemis is located, and where you place preset manager?

This is very very very strange. Especially if its in the Artemis folder or sub folder, it should 100% work. And i just double checked it, it works fine on my PC. I will email you further on this, easier to discuss it there.

Only one wild idea i have is maybe, maybe "run as administrator" will help it work. Try it, meanwhile, i'll work on a tool to debug this problem.

Confirmed to be a problem with admin rights. Instead of failing explicitly, it fails silently, because it doesnt have admin rights to access file operation on program files folder.

So, run as administrator if preset manager fails to find Artemis in one of obvious locations it should find it in.

Updated to fix any possibility of the bug described on page 3 of this thread http://px2owffng8.embed.tal.ki/20120514/artemis-extender-1581476/page3/ to ever affect the preset manager, even though I dont think it ever could, so if you already have 12.11.03.1, you can skip downloading version 12.11.10.1.
