Novice Mistake

This story is of my crew from when we started. This was the second mission we played. It was trials of Deneb I which we later learned was for an experienced full crew. And we were down one person.

50 Minuetes into conflict.

Captain: Put status on screen. (pause) Engineering tell me what we are looking at.

Engineering: Captain, full casualties in Damcon. Missile tubes are destroyed lasers at 50% capability. rest of systems are green. We are out of nukes homings and ecms. Front and rear shields are down.

Captain: Good God. Science how many of them are their left.

Science(also comms): I only see seven of them captain. Two Behemoths , two carriers, and a couple of cruisers. Wait there is also a destroyer.

Captain: Darn it. Plot a course to the station. Comms when will the nuke be ready?

Comms: five minuets captain.

Captain: alright weaps load up the mines. We are going to fly straight through those fools and drop mines.

Weapons: Can't load mines captain. Tubes destroyed.

Captain: Can't anything go right.

(we dock)

Science: the enemy is closing in. Thy have cleared the minefield with no damage. We have about two minuets. maybe one.

Engineering: Shields are up to 20%. Tubes repaired. Working on lasers now.

Captain: Weaps load those mines. Science give us the heading

Science: 280 captain.

Captain: take use their helm.

Helm: Aye Aye cap.

Captain: Ready mines.

Weaps: Mine fired. (Captain spins around)

Captain: I didn't say fire mines!

Weaps: sorry captain reloading.

Helm: We are there.

Captain: Put Tactical on screen and fly us through. SHIELDS UP!

Helm: Shields up here we go.

Captain: Fire. Science what did we do?

Science: Didn't destroy any of the big ships. Destroyed the fighter wings though.

Captain: turn us about prepare for second pass.

Engineering: Captain I am not sure the shields will hold.

Captain: they will hold man. They have to. Start pass. Weapons fire.

Science: The Behemoths are still in action. the rest are mostly disabled. Wait... MISSILES!

Captain: EVASIVE MEASURES!

Ship turns away attempting to escape. Then missiles hit.

Engineering: Shields down captain but we are out of range. (Captain turns to screen)

Captain: Wait that's...

Ship explodes.

Helm ran us into the mine we accidentally dropped earlier.

My god though. Great game.
