System power effects not distributed between all clients

posted Mar 20, 2013 11:00:54 by toumaltheorca
Hey there, I think I have a juicy bug report for you. Yesterday we ended up having our ship fly sideways (and even backwards) at full impulse. Here's what happened:

We had four clients, one was weapons + coms, the other was helm, one was engineering and the fourth had the science. Engineering had maneuvering power set to 0 (we were completely out of energy and regeneration was slooooow), and helm tried to turn. Well we all saw the ship turn, except the main viewer showed no rotation. The ship moved in the direction shown on the main viewer - thus moving sideways or even backwards on our screens.

After engineering increased maneuvering power, rotation on our stations snapped to the direction shown on the main viewer. 'twas too late for our brave vessel "QuipQuip" however ;)

So yeah, definitely not a lag problem as everything (weapons, ship status, etc) was perfectly in sync. It wasn't a complete mood-killer once we found the cure, but yeah, definitely something that should be fixed.

Sort of surprised no one has replied to this.

This has been an issue in Artemis for quite a while. Whenever systems are reduced to zero movement is completely broken. And things you're experience occur nearly every time.

I do believe Thom has said this will be fixed in 2.0
