Failed to connect to server

posted May 01, 2013 03:04:18 by RichieCastellano
Hi, my name is Richie. I just started playing this game. I absolutely love it. My friends and I are having a blast playing. One of our computers is unable to connect to the server. It can act as the server just fine, but will not connect to another computer, no matter what I do. It's a windows 7 64 bit machine. So far I've tried to run as administrator, windows xp compatibility mode, disabling firewall, disabling anti-virus...nothing works. It just won't connect. Every other computer in our group works fine except for this one.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
-Richie

Can you explain the network topology you are using?

WAN/LAN. Where/how the server is being hosted. Server machine specs. How the problem PC is connecting to the Server. Etc.

Hi Lucas. I'll do my best to answer. I'm not very knowledgeable in these areas. I'm using a wireless router. I've also tried it wired via ethernet into router. I've tried it on a linksys router and the verizon fios router. We're using one of our computers on the network as a server. We have one desktop (the server), 3 laptops (clients) and 3 ipads (also clients.) The 3 iPads and 2 of the laptops all connect with no problem. Laptop #3 will not connect as the client. We ended up making Laptop #3 the server and changing the desktop to another client. It worked fine that way, but I would still love to know why that particular laptop won't work as a client.

Forgive my ignorance in these areas. If there's any more info you need, I'll do my best to provide it.

Thanks!

Nope. That's exactly what I needed how it should be said. only other question would be:

Are all of the computers connecting to the same router. I noticed you mentioned two, and inbound/outbound issues could occur if say the wireless computers were connected to one router, and the wired were connected to the other, even with the two routers being connected by internet. Aside from that I'd be a little lost without playing around with it in person.

Thanks for the quick reply. They are all definitely connected to the same router.

Some other things you could check.

The port setting in the .ini file for artemis on that machine.

The IPv4 settings for that machien (make sure it's all DHCP so the router has control)

Just tried your suggestions. Turned firewall off just to be sure. It still won't connect to any servers.
