Logitech Attack 3 Button Mapping Suggestions

posted May 22, 2013 21:54:40 by lucas99801
Hey all, picked up a Logitech Attack 3 at a pawn shop for $10 and I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for mapping the buttons. Currently I have it set like this:

Trigger: Warp 1
Hat buttons: Warp 2-4 and Request dock
3 Base buttons: Toggle reverse, Raise Shield, Stop warp

Can you guys think of a more efficient way to set it up?

That's the same one I use. I had to download and use the Logitech software to get it to work consistently though.

I use trigger for Warp 1 for triggered bursts and then 1/2/3 across the top buttons and 4 for the big button to be clicked on and off.

I put the two left base buttons to shields and all stop, the bottom buttons both to reverse, and the right buttons both to Request Dock.

This allowed me to remove the keyboard from the station and works great.

I may need to snag that software, use of all 11 buttons would be fantastic. And on/off with the hat buttons seems much better, I'll give that a try at least

Found a nice medium for our two setups using the software.

Trigger: Warp 1 burst
2: Request dock (just seems natural for me)
4/3/5: Toggle Warp 2/3/4
6: Shields Up
7: Shields Down
8: Toggle Reverse
9: Full Stop
10: Zoom Out
11: Zoom In

I like this setup because it nicely incorporates all potentially necessary functions for the entire console, and I like that the trigger can be used to cancel Warp 2/3/4 with a quick click.

Thanks for the feedback Michael :)

I hadn't thought of mapping zoom keys!

Now I have to rethink it when I set it up for convention this weekend. :)

With all the hurdles impeding using my Saitek the way I'd like, I ordered one of these just for Artemis, thanks for the heads-up!

Can someone help with instruction as to how to map the joystick? I just picked up a Attack 3 after a fairly poor outing as helm!

Thanks.

Westy, did you get the software from the Logitech website?

Hi Lucas - I did... I think I have figured it out. Do you assign anything to the throttle on the attack 3?

I did not, because with Artemis' double-tap=full stop. I kept getting overwritten by the throttle. If it were larger I'd probably use it, but it's easy to miss

Can you use the throttle to zoom the map?

It's an axis, so I don't believe so.
