Greetings. Vorus and I, have a created a Star Trek based Total Conversion mod for ASBS, and will be updating, adding thing, and patching it as time goes on. You can track our progress on our Forum. Here is the link: NegativeZone

=================================
Artemis Into the Breach Star Trek Mod Version 1.51
=================================

We have released an updated version of the Federation Mod and the released the Klingon mod to work with and utilize the features of Artemis 1.51! The mod is titled "Into the Breach" and we are very happy with how it turned out, and it has some very interesting features:

--THREE MODS IN ONE:
---One single batch file to run ANY version of the mod as well as run the stock game. Now, you get ALL THREE version of the mod (Starfleet, Klingon, Romulan) in a single download. And to run the mod, you simply double-click on the file named "Play Artemis", and then chose which version of the game you want to play, including all three of our mods, the stock game, or the demo version of our mod.

--Attacking enemy starbases:
---In the Klingon version of the mod, you can actually attack ENEMY STARBASES, which are even defended by other ships. But be warned, attacking a starbase alone is very dangerous. Using your allied ships to help you attack it might be wise.

--Fully balanced combat:
---Each ship in the game is based on the stats listed in the old FASA game guides from the early to late 1980s. Why? Because FASA was one of the premier sources for starship combat, and some of the most famous Trek PC games were based on the very same sources. (Starfleet Command, for isntance.) The end result is that ships may have more weapons than stock Artemis, including dual beams, aft beams, port and starboard weapons, and the like. However, care has been taken to ensure that these features do not take away from the tactical and strategic feel of the game

--1.51 features
---Makes use of the new Engineering systems and the gun camera!

--More torpedoes:
---Your ship is now equipped with many more torpedoes than the stock game. But be warned, while you may want to fire them more readily, they aren't as powerful as stock missiles, and bases don't always carry enough to full resupply you, especially the more powerful nukes and mines.

--More shielding and beam damage:
---Your ship can now take a pounding from several enemy ships at one time, and give out more damage with beams as well. This makes diving into combat and using beams a viable tactic.

--Full Demo support
-----A feature that has been requested several times is now here. All mod variants are now fully demo-ready.

--New Elite enemies
-----The Starfleet mod features a classic and powerful new Elite enemy that you will instantly recognize and most likely fear.
-----The Klingon mod features a new Elite enemy based on the novel "The Final Reflection". Find the kuve and remind them of their place in the quadrant.
-----The Rihannsu mod features an Elite enemy that will remind you of a classic character from ENT.

--Tech Document:
---Included with each mod is a PDF giving you detailed information about your own ship, allied ships, and most enemy ships that you will encounter. This document will give you an idea of each ship's abilities, so it is wise to look it over before playing the mod.

Known Issues:
---None that we know of. If you find any bugs, please let us know.

Some nice images of a test run of the Larson class cruiser (Not the final player ship, don't worry, you'll get a Constitution. :P ) against a Klingon D7 and a pair of D16s.

Most of our ships come from the old FASA materials, so any of you old-time warriors will be familiar with the ships.

Thanks! We have gotten 6 ships modeled,(Maybe 7 if Vorus finished the one we was working on) and 5 are skinned and pomplete. 5 nearly 6 ships completed in three days, so we should be finished in a couple weeks, given our current rate of speed, provided everything goes smoothly! We should have a couple Romulan ships ready soon. :D

This is totally fantastic! Loving your work, can't wait for them to be finished - are they easy to implement?

Thanks, we think it's going to be VERY cool.

It's not too hard to get them ingame. Aside from the D7, we've built all our models from scratch, and they go ingame without much trouble, because the game uses the default Deled CE 3D model format. We've tested several of them in combat with no problems so far, so it seems like smooth sailing so far.

Some more images:

First one is a beauty shot of the player's ship in the Fed version of the mod.

Second shot is approaching the Romulan battle lines. (Notice the V30 Winged Defender, a classic Romulan design.)

Third shot is the Romulan fleet after they blew me up. The V30 survived of course, with its escort of Gallant Wing cruisers.

Fourth shot is an attack against the Klingon fleet. It includes a D14, "One Wing", and of course, the classic D7.

And the last shot is a confrontation with an Orion Pirate "Lightning" cruiser.

This is not the Abramsverse, where impulse propulsion is provided by magic nacelles, therefore the third glow is from the impulse vents, as it should be. :P

Looks amazing! Do you guys have plans to work on some Next Gen and later era stuff like the Galaxy and Sovereign class Enterprise, Defiant, Intrepid, Luna, etc?

I am not sure. I think those would be a LOT more difficult to make. Not impossible by any means, but not easy. :P But I think eventually we may do something like that. But for right now, we still need to get the the other two versions ready, and for that we need models, sounds, UI changes, so there is still work to be done here. But we shall cross that bridge as we come to it.

Another update on this project:

We are currently at the "beta" stage of our Klingon mod. It is fully compatible with Artemis 1.41, including two allied ships to help you in your noble fight against the vile Federation. We have rebalanced our mod to hopefully make battles last a little longer while still being exciting, and to add more tactical and strategic use of your torpedo tubes. There are even a few UI tweaks in this version of the mod.

Once again, the mod will release with a document outlining the stats for friendly and enemy ships, along with diagrams showing the firing arcs, so that you and your crew can be familiar with the ships you will face.

We will do some internal testing on this beta, make any needed changes, and then release it as soon as we get everything nailed down. We expect release within a week or two.

Thanks for your support.

We are proud to announce that we have finally finished work on the updated version of our mod for the game "Artemis Spaceship Simulator". Our mod is now fully compatible with version 1.41 of Artemis, included all the newest features, like allied ships, space monsters, elite enemies, and everything.

Our mod is designed to bring the feel of Star Trek The Original Series space combat to Artemis. We have designed, built and skinned fleets of ships, both allied and enemy to fully populate the sector with Star Trek ships. You will face ships straight from the show, as well as other ships from other realms of Trek history, and even a few ships designed by us as fans ourselves. You will be able to command some of the most famous ships in Star Trek from the Federation and Klingon fleets.

MAIN FEATURES:

TWO MODS IN ONE:
---There is not only a "Starfleet" version of our mod, giving you command of the classic Constitution class starship against fleets of Klingons, Romulans, and Orion Pirates, but there is also a "Klingon" version of the mod, giving you command of a D7 class Klingon Battlecruiser as you make an incursion into Federation space.

Attacking enemy starbases:
---In the Klingon version of the mod, you can actually attack ENEMY STARBASES, which are even defended by other ships. But be warned, attacking a starbase alone is very dangerous. Using your allied ships to help you attack it might be wise.

Fully balanced combat:
---Each ship in the game is based on the stats listed in the old FASA game guides from the early to late 1980s. Why? Because FASA was one of the premier sources for starship combat, and some of the most famous Trek PC games were based on the very same sources. (Starfleet Command, for isntance.) The end result is that ships may have more weapons than stock Artemis, including dual beams, aft beams, port and starboard weapons, and the like. However, care has been taken to ensure that these features do not take away from the tactical and strategic feel of the game

New sound effects:
---We have added appropriate sound effects to player ships, including shields being raised and lowered, weapons fire, even enemy explosion sounds.

More torpedoes:
---Your ship is now equipped with many more torpedoes than the stock game. But be warned, while you may want to fire them more readily, they aren't as powerful as stock missiles, and bases don't always carry enough to full resupply you, especially the more powerful nukes and mines.

More shielding and beam damage:
---Your ship can now take a pounding from several enemy ships at one time, and give out more damage with beams as well. This makes diving into combat and using beams a viable tactic.

More SCI officer duties:
---Just with a simple change, we have made SCI a much more responsible position. For one thing, Anomalies are no longer visible on the main screen, nor is there even a flashing dot on HELM's radar. In other words, SCI has to lead HELM to the anomaly, HELM can't fly there alone.

MINES, MINES, MINES:
---Mines are no longer visible on HELM's radar, so BE CAREFUL warping around. Mines are now only visible on SCI's sensors, and the main screen itself. This is also useful for BvB combat, as minefields now threaten all players.

Tech Document:
---Included with each mod is a PDF giving you detailed information about your own ship, allied ships, and most enemy ships that you will encounter. This document will give you an idea of each ship's abilities, so it is wise to look it over before playing the mod.

Known Issues:
---None that we know of. If you find any bugs, please let us know.

Additional Credits:
---Thom Robertson, for creating Artemis.
---Redragon for releasing his D7 for our use.

Our goal is to let players take command of the classic Trek ships, and command them against classic Trek enemies. We hope everyone enjoys our mod. Kai the victors.

Installation instructions:
---We suggest that you make a duplicate Artemis folder for each "Into the Breach" mod, so that you don't overwrite your stock game.
---Unzip the contents of the downloaded file into one of the main Artemis folder of your choice.
---That's it, just play the game like usual from the Artemis.exe file.
